Message From the President
NEW! Texas Southern Univeristy School of Education
This section entitled "Message From the President" will be very important. This will be the section where ideas on improving the education performance of African American students will appear. I will take ideas coming from many of you and post them to this section of the TABSE website.

From the desk of the President:
In the movie “Lean On Me”, Joe Clark the venerable principal of Eastside High said to his students, “welcome to the new Eastside High.” I say as your president, welcome to the new TABSE. It is my pleasure to invite you to become a participant in a dynamic and progressive educator’s organization. Our role is to work diligently with you to “save the African American child”. In this process we believe that “education is a civil right”. What does this mean for each of us? Over the next weeks, a clear explanation will be provided and you will see that you have a great stake in making it happen for our youth and that “education is a civil right”.
It is not a coincidence that we see so much revolution in the technology world. Today’s powerful computers and hand held devices will be obsolete within a matter of weeks. What is driving this technology revolution? The answer is simple. Men and women are studying more and gaining a great deal of insight through their research.
Sadly to say, many of our young talented African Americans are not joining this technology revolution. Oh yes we are consumers of these devices, but we are not playing a stronger role in their development.
Over the next year and a half, I want to set the stage for bringing more of our youth into the academic arena where their talents will allow them to also play a key role in technology’s development: an arena where our youth are not afraid of mathematics, science or foreign languages. I ask that you join with me and the TABSE leadership in this work.
TABSE needs your membership. Many have already come on board and are demonstrating their desire to work with TABSE. Won’t you please join with us today as we work together to “save our children.” My goal is to have no less than 3000 members by the time we open our
