Dr. Royce Avery has over 30 years of experience in Texas public education, including as a special educator, athletic coach, and middle school principal. After his time as a principal, Dr. Avery held several district-level administrative positions, including area superintendent in El Paso ISD.
Prior to his time at Manor ISD, Dr. Avery’s accomplishments include increasing 21st century learning opportunities through the expansion of technology programs and infrastructure; implementing programs to significantly decrease discipline referrals; increasing student attendance through incentive programs; and increasing college readiness efforts. Most notable is Dr. Avery’s proven experience with leadership transformation and student growth.
Since starting as Superintendent of Manor ISD in June 2016, Dr. Avery has implemented new leadership and accountability standards within the district. He also announced new programs at every grade level in the district, including that all middle and elementary school campuses will have a focus of New Tech, International Baccalaureate, or Fine Arts curriculum. Furthermore, Dr. Avery partnered with Studer Education to start the 5-year strategic planning process at MISD, which was finalized in June 2017.
